Description Scheuermann disease is frequent in adolescence with round kyphosis and thoracic pain. Lateral radiographs show thoracic kyphosis greater than 40 degrees after Cobb method and vertebrae have anterior wedging. About 42% of patients have disc herniation to adjacent vertebrae (Schmorl nodes) - endplate irrebularities. The disease results in damaged spine. The effective management of severe curves is body cast followed by orthosis and physical therapy (Lyon management), with success in 66% of cases.
