Description | Both published and available unpublished records of bats occurring in the area of the Protected Landscape Area of Litovelské Pomoraví (Czech Republic) have been summarized. Various methods were used to obtain faunistic data, i. e. bat-detectoring, netting, observations of bats in winter and summer shelters. In total, 18 bat species have been registered so far, viz., Rhinolophus hipposideros, Myotis mystacinus, M. brandtii, M. emarginatus, M. nattereri, M. bechsteinii, M. myotis, M. daubentonii, Vespertilio murinus, Eptesicus serotinus, Nyctalus leisleri, N. noctula, Pipistrellus pygmaeus/mediterraneus, P. pipistrellus, P. nathusii, Barbastella barbastellus, Plecotus auritus, P. austriacus. The most common bat species seems to be M. daubentonii due to the high abundance of suitable habitats, especially water sites. Most bat species dwelling tree holes and foraging inside floodplain forests were recorded as M. mystacinus, M. brandtii, Nyctalus spp. etc. Unlike other aluvial regions in the Czech Republic, some bat species also hibernate in the area under study due to the presence of caves. |
