Description BM2 monoblasts can be induced to terminal differentiation using phorbol ester TPA. In this study we described changes of proteom of BM2 cells undergoing TPA-induced differentiation. Using protein gel electrophoresis we detected 55 kDa protein in maturing BM2 cells. This protein was identified as vimentin by mass spectrometry MALDI-TOF. This conclusion was confirmed by western blotting. The level of vimentin also increases in BM2 cells treated with trichostatin A and in RA-treated BM2 derivatives overexpressing retinoid acid receptors RAR or RXR. Increased level of vimentin can be thus used as differentiation marker in BM2 cells.
