Description | A clear difference between Lidové noviny and Národní práce, on the one hand, and Venkov, on the other, was traceable in the first period of the existence of the Protectorate in the presented attitude towards Jews. The antisemitic rhetoric filled Venkov while both the other dailies remained reserved at the beginning. A clear breaking point occurred in the autumn of 1940 when antisemitism became the actual policy of Národní souručenství. It is though characteristic of the antisemitic rhetoric of the analysed dailies that they tended to operate with socio-economic and power-political aspects of antisemitism rather than its racial aspects. The anti-Semitic rhetoric reached its peak at the end of the summer and the beginning of the autumn od 1941 when it acquired an overaly racially motivated charakter. During the years 1942 to 1944 the analyse dailies concentrated on the motif of a "global Jewish conspracy", in contrast to the number of contributions concentrating on a negative represenattion of the Jewish minority in the Protectorate decreased. |
