Description Peroxovanadium(V) complexes of alpha-hydroxyhippuric acid (alpha-H2hhip), M2[V2O2(O2)2(alpha-hhip)2].nH2O [M=NMe4+ (1), NPr4+ (2); n=0.5, 5], have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis and by IR and Raman spectroscopies. The X-ray crystal structure of 2 has been determined as the first crystal structure of an -hydroxyhippurato complex. A single crystal X-ray diffraction study has shown that the -hhip ligand behaves as a tridentate chelator adopting the (O-, COO-, CO) donor set. The coordination geometry of the vanadium atom is a distorted pentagonal bipyramid.
