Description The aim of the present work is to confirm the existence of APG discharge in nitrogen-hydrogen and neon-hydrogen mixtures. The discharge was generated between two metal electrodes, which were covered with glass or alumina layer. A small admixture of hydrogen could be added to nitrogen or neon. The discharge was studied by means of electrical measurements and optical emission spectroscopy (OES), also with a temporal and spatial resolution. It was shown that APG discharge can be generated in nitrogen-hydrogen and neon-hydrogen mixtures, in which the hydrogen content is smaller than several per cents. In nitrogen the hydrogen admixture decreases the voltage of the transition to filamentary regime and it can cause the oscillations of the conductivity current. In neon the hydro gen admixture affects the discharge stability. Temporally and spatially resolved OES confirmed the glow-like character of neon APG discharge and determined the excitation mechanism of various species.
