Description Modern literary Russian was formed in the 18th Century. At the end of that century, the Russian language incurred important changes: the grammatical norms of the language were established and the languages vocabulary began to be enlarged. In particular, the vocabulary was internationalized by the adoption of Greek and Latin words, filtered through Western European languages. Internationalization also affected the grammatical structure of the language: influenced by Western European languages a tendency to express grammatical forms analytically began to emerge.
