Description A part of the Czech environmental movement after 1989 has acquired ecoterrorist character. Militant activists are primarily eco-anarchists, not deep ecologists. However, the violence of ecoterrorists has centered mostly on property, not on people. The Czech section of the Animal Liberation Front has been active since the middle of the 1990s. Their biggest actions were a bomb attack against the cable railway in the Moravian Carst in 1995 and two attacks against the firm Biotest (which keeps animals for vivisection) near Pardubice in eastern Bohemia in 2002 and 2003. The Earth First! in the Czech Republic (Země především!) were active especially during antiglobalization riots in 1998-2000. Ecoterrorism might rise in the Czech Republic in the future.
