Description | La Grive L7 and La Grive M (France) represent the unique European palaeoherpetological Middle Miocene (MN 7+8) sites. Representatives reported at La Grive L7 included Typhlopidae, Colubridae, Elapidae, and Viperidae. Representatives reported at La Grive M included Typhlopidae, Boidae, Colubridae, Elapidae, and Viperidae. Several morphotypes probably may represent new species. Although representatives of Natrix sp. 2 were partially (La Grive L7) affiliated to Natrix longivertebrata (based on the preserved cranial elements which resemble to the type material from the Polish Upper Pliocene), vertebral morphology of the type material from Poland is different. |
