Description | Skeletal remains of over a thousand individuals were recovered during preservation archaeological research in Antonínská Street, Brno. The cemetery was used as the burial place between 1785 and 1883. In the study classical descriptive and metric anthropological methods (about 21 diameters and 10 indexes) were studied. The most numerous cranial indicis of both sexes belonged to the category of brachycranial skulls, followed by mesocranial and hyperbrachycranial skulls. Marginal categories of cranial index were sporadically represented. In the morphoscopic part of the study, there were investigated 20 epigenetic signs, namely 12 on the neurocranium and 8 on splanchnocranium in each skull. The findings obtained in this study could serve as a representative sample for a comparison between historical osteological material of 18th-19th centuries. |
