Description Several photoprotective mechanisms were measured on foliose lichens Lasallia pustulata and Umbilicaria antarctica: alteration in PS II functioning (fast chlorophyll fluorescence transient), formation of zeaxanthin, and changes in amount and redox state of glutathione as related to a short-term high light stress. The high light-induced photoinhibition was sensed by a set of chlorophyll fluorescence parameters (Fv/Fm, Yield PS II, and NPQ).
