Description | Molecular methods were applied to verify the species identification of Bifidobacterium isolates from the Culture Collection of Dairy Microorganisms (CCDM, Tábor, ČR), previously identified by fenotypic techniques only. The methods used for identification in this study were the genus and species specific PCR and restriction analysis of amplified ribosomal DNA restriction analysis with three restriction enzymes. The methods were introduced and optimalised using type and reference strains of Bifidobacterium species. The molecular methods chosen enabled species identification of the analysed strains and provided congruent results. |
