Description | The serious changes of development dynamism can be found between central city areas and outer, respectively suburban zones. Underlying economic and social processes causes de-concentration and spatial transfer of many functions. Relative stagnation of the city centres (underused, idled industrial plots, loss of population, changes in retail function) contrasts with intensive development of suburban zones where the residential and commercial suburbanisation takes place. Postsocialist development calls for redefinition of existing city structure it creates new form of the city as a set of places interconnected with horizontal links. |
