Description A new member of the Staphyloccus genus, S. simiae, was described in the International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology. All of the 8 strains isolated so far have been detected in the Czech republic from rectal swabs of healthy and diseased South American squirrel monkeys. Phenotypic characteristics of the new species are close to the ones of S. piscifermentans species, however, there is the phylogenetic relatedness to S. aureus species.
