Description | The Czech lands experienced five different types of non-democratic regimes during the 20 th century: post democratic mobilization authoritarian (1938-1939), Nazi totalitarian (1939-1945), pretotalitarian (1945-1948), communist totalitarian (1948-1958/60) and communist posttotalitarian regime (1958/60-1989). This article brings a research of social activity, life destiny and work of a few catholic intellectuals (Jan Zahradníček, Jan Čep, Jaroslav Durych, Bedřich Fučík etc.) in the times of those non-democratic regimes. The article concentrates on a question whether it is possible to see some differences in the lives and works of catholic intellectuals' commensurate with the type of the ruling non-democratic regime. |
