| Description | The article deals with the problems of explanation and causation, poses and attempts to answer to the question: Which role does causation play in explanation? The answer to the question is given in connection with the criticism of the conception that identifies explanations with arguments and that represents the most influential and prevailing account of explantion in the middle of the twentieth century. The article sums up the main objections to this conception of explanation (problem of irrelevant premises in explanation, problem of epistemic relativity of statistic explanation) and shows this account of explanation as unsatisfactory and unaccepted. |
