Description The study deals with the occurrence and transformations of fear in the period of early adolescence. Using the method of free testimonies, the study maps the contend aspect of fear of 11-year-old an 13-year-old children; furthermore, it follows the number and contents of fear in dependence on respondent's gender and age. The difference between boys and girls in the reported number of fears was found only at the age of 11 years; boys reported a slightly lower number of fears than girls. At the age of 13 years, this difference was not already found. In following the occurrence of fears as regards their contents, we noticed the increase between 11th and 13th year in 4 categories - Fear of losing someone, fears for someone, something; Generalized fears; Fears of one's own insufficiency (only in girls) and School fears. Changes in occurrence of these categories are in harmony with developmental changes, wich occur in the period in view.
