Description Structural macroeconomic models are nowadays the most used tools for the business cycle analysis. This article analyses the history of structural models from the second quarter of the twentieth century to the present. These models are closely related to the economic theory. For this reason, the article presents mainly Keynesian models that were dominated till the 1960s and current DSGE models which took over their role since the 1970s. A brief description of non-structural models is presented in part Non-structural models.
