Description | We have already demonstrated that repeated treatment with MDMA produces the behavioural sensitization increasing response to its stimulatory effect on ambulation of adult male mice in open field. These increased responses were also found as a result of cross-sensitization in males pretreated with cannabinoid CB1 receptor agonist methanadamide. We focus on gender differences in above described phenomena. The present study showed higher susceptibility of female mice to acute administration of ecstasy, however the behavioural sensitization development and expression were confirmed only in males. The pretreatment with cannabinoid CB1 receptor agonist methanandamide led to sensitization to MDMA stimulatory effects in all animals. |
