Description Group of method laser assisted plasma spectroscopy (LAPS) use of focused pulsed laser beam to release material from sample - laser ablation LA, which is accompanied with microplasma generation. Generated aerosol from sample surface is transported and analysed by inductively coupled plasma emission or mass spectrometry. Microplasma is source of emission for laser induced breakdown spectroscopy. These techniques allow local analysis and analysis electric conductors and nonconductors. Possibilities of LAPS methods are demonstrate for instance analysis of steel, slag and tungsten carbides, depth profiling of metal and ceramic layers and mapping of surface or cuts of structured samples.
