Description | Powdered samples representing geological (soils) and biological (infant formula) materials were prepared for laser ablation as pressed pellets and as poured pellets with a liquid binder. The possibility of using sol-gel technique allowing homogenous dispersion of internal standard or calibration solutions spiked in the solid material was studied. UV and IR laser ablation of prepared pellets with 266 nm and 1064 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser was investigated. Ablation craters were studied using the SEM method which allowed definition of the crater sizes and BSE method for more detailed analyses yielded an elemental map showing element distribution on the crater bottom and rims of the ablation track and the surrounding surfaces. Elemental analysis of prepared pellets was performed using LA-ICP-OES, the precision and accuracy of created methods were compared. |
