Description In spite of poor prognosis of the B-CLL pacients possessing p53 abnormalities, processes causing p53 mutations or deletions are not clear. Some studies indicated association between the presence of p53 abnormalities and non-mutated status of the IgVH locus, thus suggesting spontaneous p53 mutagenesis. Other studies described strong associations between the p53 mutations and ungoing therapy, suggesting artificial selection or even induction of p53 mutations in the course of chemotherapy. Complex approach to mapping of p53 abnormalities in B-CLL pacients allowed partial clarification of this theme in our collection of 147 patients.
