Description | Records of the Bechstein's bat (Myotis bechsteinii Kuhl, 1818) on the territory of the Czech Republic published since 1956, as well as unpublished records, are summarized. The species was recorded in 222 localities covering 129 quadrats of the standard grid, i.e. 19,0 % of the state territory. Winter records (15 October – 30 April) prevail the summer ones. The majority of localities are situated at the elevations of 400 – 600 m. The highest abundance of the species under study was found in southern Moravia, in particular at the Kateřinská Cave (Moravian Karst, quadrat 6666) by netting in front of its entrance since 1991. |
