| Description | This paper presents a theoretical sketch of alternation-based analytical phonology. It is our opinion that alternations are functionally the most marked part of a phonemic system. In fact we presume that only alternation-based functions between phonemes are constitutive functions. Additionally, we provide a brief analysis of consonantal alternations in contemporary Czech. |
