Description | Treponema pallidum ssp. pertenue, the causative agent of tropical dermal disease yaws, is at the DNA level closely related to Treponema pallidum ssp. pallidum strain Nichols. For genome sequencing of Treponema pallidum ssp. pertenue Samoa D, comparative genome sequencing (CGS) and pyrosequencing (454 Life Sciences) were used. The CGS method is used for sequencing of closely related microbial genomes based on the sequence of the reference genome (Nichols genome). |
