Description | An anonymous survey covering the sample of 321 pupils from the 6th to 9th year was made in two primary schools (Brno, Kroměříž). The questionnaire contained 10 items aimed at knowledge, opinions and appearing of body decoration (especially tattoos and piercing). The obtained data were statistically processed (ANOVA, x2). The results show that the pupils attach great importance to their credit among coevals as well as to appearance, this attitude gets stronger with their growing age. People wearing piercing arouse childrens interest and they are more significantly (p<0,01) attractive for pupils in the highest years of primary school. With the pupils growing age also the number of children desiring to have a piercing increases, especially in the cities. One tenth of the asked children in the 9th year has already a piercing, three quarters of respondents are convinced of its health risks. The popularity of tattoos increases noticeably with the growing age of children (p<0,05), in a fifth in the sample there is a tattooed member in their family. The acceptation of tattoos as a way of self expression and the ability and wish to wear it on their own body get stronger with the growing age, especially in the city. The tattooed person is interesting, he seems to be original and attractive. The main health risks connected with tattooing and piercing are: inflamed skin and mucosa, potential formation of complicated scars, damage of artery and nerve systems, infection outbreak into inner organism, transmission of VH, AIDS and VHB viruses, VHB passing with the hard injury to the liver, allergic reactions, malfunction of dentition and gum in the mouth, teasing of acupunctural dots with dislocation of organ function, long-lived pain and infection on the genitals, generally possible activation of tumorous growth. |
