| Description | In our investigation, we concentrated directly on the area of virtual communities and on the domain of lying on the Internet, which is often perceived as a typical Internet phenomenon in the media. For different age groups, we can distinguish various areas, in which they feel the need to lie. The youngest group (from 12 years to 18 years) lies most often about age and physical appearance. The middle age group (from 19 years to 26) has its priorities shifted more towards "stable manifestations of adulthood", ie. employment, income and this is especially true for men. Women do not seem to be interested in lying about their age, but if they do lie, it's most often about their appearance. The oldest age group (27 years and older) is generally focused on age, and for men on income whilst women also lie about their appearance. |
