Description The documentation of sewage trench has brought new data to the knowledge of areal extent and lithology of Miocene deposits at the Brno region. Described clastic sediments were deposited in the depression of crystalline basement (Brno Massif). High proportion of staurolite or even weak predominance of staurolite over garnet in the translucent-heavy-mineral assemblage is typical for the Ottnangian sands in the region. Microfossil content comprises Miocene fresh-water ostracodes, Miocene normal-marine foraminifers, and reworked Cretaceous foraminifers of Coniacian-Santonian age.
