Description Neuroblastoma represents a type of tumor characterized by a strong genetic heterogeneity with specific genetic changes associated with different stages of the disease. Therefore, detection of genetic abnormalities in neuroblastoma is used (in combination with other prognostic factors) for stratification of patient treatment as well as for the control of a therapy effect. Since 1998, we analyzed 56 samples of tumor tissue taken from patients with neuroblastoma using I-FISH (all samples), CGH (37 samples) and array-CGH (3 samples). Gain 17q, amplification of MYCN gene, deletion 1p and deletion 11q were the most frequently identified genetic changes in this cohort. A high number of genetic changes was correlated with advanced stages (INSS stages 3-4) of the disease.
