Description The paper asks the question whether the cognition of ideas in Plato's philosophy could be marked from Aristotelian point of view as "theory" or "practice". The subject of the inquiry is recollection (as proposed in Meno, Phaedo and Phaedrus), dialectic (Republic, Parmenides, Philebus) and (rational) intuition (Symposium, Seventh letter). The conclusion is that Plato did not recognize two distinct aims of our knowledge - truth and good - and accordingly did not differentiate two types of knowledge (or of sciences) - the "theoretical" one and the "practical" one.
