Description | Lactoferrin is a glyco- and iron-binding protein consisted from 703 aminoacid residues. Its molecular weight is of about 77 000 Da. Except iron lactoferrin is able to bind other heavy metals into the same binding place, but with lower affinity. The main biological function of lactoferrin is to maintain iron homeostasis. Iron capturing occurs primary in the intestine from food. It is related to cell growth regulation, cell differentiation and it has an antiinflammatory activity. The main aim of this work was to suggest a method to distinguish structure of lactoferrin easily and with low demanding on instruments and costs. As detection part of the method we used flow injection analysis with electrochemical detection. |
