Description Wear-resistant and heat-resistant coatings as well as free-standing parts of tungsten disilicide were manufactured by plasma spraying. Oxidation of the molten silicide in water stabilized plasma, generated by IPPs WSP plasma torch was prevented by auto-shrouding effect. Mechanical and oxidation behavior was compared with samples prepared by hot-pressed powder metallurgy techniques. In the products of plasma treatment part of tungsten disilicide was transformed into W5Si3.
