Description | The present paper reports on investigation of affecting of sugar beet by lead(II)- ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid complex (0, 100 and 1,000 uM) for five days. The complex effect on basic physiological parameters (growth and chlorophyll content) and on thiols content was investigated. Based on the growth observation marked growth depression both roots and above-ground parts of the treated plants was observed. Moreover content of chlorophyll in the treated plants increased at the second day of the experiment for more than 20 % compared to control. At the end of the experiment, we did not observe any change in the content of chlorophyll between treated and control plants. In addition, cysteine and glutathione content in plants was determined by high performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection. Using of sugar beet for heavy metal remediation purposes is discussed. |
