Description | The river landscape is one of the biotopes with highest biodiversity. Protective conditions of these localities are based on Law No. 114/1992 Coll., about the protection of nature and landscape. Among the institutes of common territorial protection pertain: territorial system of ecological stability of the landscape, country park, temporarily protected area, significant landscape component, bird area and landscape character. Among the institutes of special protection pertain: biotopes of specially protected plant`s and animal`s species and above all specially protected areas. There are six categories of specially protected areas in Czech Republic. The large-scale specially protected areas include nationals parks and protected landscape areas. The small-scale specially protected areas include national nature reserves, national natural monuments, nature reserves and natural monuments. Only one of the above-cited institutes - the significant landscape component, really protects the most of territory of the river landscape. Among the significant landscape components provided by law belong the waterways and flood plains. The other legal institutes protect only the larger or smaller parts of the river landscape. The highest protection ensure the specially protected areas established for clearly identifiable areas. In specially protected areas are usually conserved representative examples of natural river landscape and related ecological systems. We have endeavour not only to maintain existing status, but to restore the natural character of the river landscape in maximum range too. In effort to maintain these natural values into the future and to ensure them the sufficient protection it is necessarily to use all the appropriate possibilities of legal protection. |
