Description Visual daily meteorological observations prepared in 1805 and 1806 by Jan Nádherný, a nobleman who lived in Prague, and preserved in the form of entries in weather calendars published by A. David, are analysed. Meteorological records are re-expressed in modern day terms and are used to describe the meteorological character of individual months in the years mentioned. For comparison with instrumental observations, Nádherný's word descriptions and variations of measured maximum and minimum temperatures at the Prague-Klementinum station for December 1805 and June 1806 are shown. Also monthly weighted temperature and precipitation indices (7-part scale from -3 to +3) derived from Nádherný's records are compared with observations from that station.
