Description | The word až connects the temporal or resultative clauses. In both of them it contains the general semantic feature of the border (terminativeness), the same as in the function of a modifier of the sentence phrase. It seems the expression až is not a conjunction (in the sense of a part of speech), but a functional word and as a modifier of the clause it only plays a role of a conjunction. These functional and semantic characteristics were decisive for its development in the Czech language. |
