Description | The article introduces the remarkable figure of Jan Knies (1860-1937), an amauteur archaeologist and one of the leading exponents of Moravian Palaeolithic archaeology in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Knies was particulary devoted to research into Palaeolithic Moravina cave settlements. In 1906 he established the first museum specialising in the Moravian karst archaeology. |
