Description | Analysis of current state of water courses for restoration purposes is presented (hydromorphology, water quality, toxicity, macroinvertebrates, phytobenthos).Watercourses Leskava Brook and Troubsky Brook(catchments 20.6, 29.8 km2)affected by diffuse and point pollution were studied in Brno suburban area.Oxygen regime, nutrient conditions, trace organic compounds and heavy metals in sediments have been evaluated to detect organic pollution and nutrient load.Macroinvertebrates have been used for indication organic pollution, phytobenthos for eutrophication and toxicity tests for evaluation of impacts on biota. Most devastating elements were morphological degradation and organic load originating from human settlement.Comparison of results in different seasons(spring and dry summer)shows decrease in ecological quality during dry season. This fact can play important role in association with smaller dilution of pollutants in dry periods and can be related to consequences of global climate change. |
