Description The article deals with the possibilities of sign language in interpretation of artistic text. The author presents results of research and takes advantage of his own lector experience in national competition called Pedagogická poema. Students of the secondary pedagogical schools take part in this competition. The article highlights the specificity of visual language that enables to transmit meanings, symbols and emotions of artistic text to the audience through specific means of expressions (e.g. remarkable features, upper part body speech, rhyming by gestures).
