Description | In addition to reconstruction of the depositional context of the human fossils from Mladeč and Koněprusy - Zlatý kůň, new 14C dates from sites with human fossils are published here, and discussed in the context of previously dated human fossils from the Czech Republic. It appears that the Mladeč dates (34-35 ka) confirm the expectations of an Early Upper Paleolithic (Aurignacian) age, whereas the Koněprusy date of 12,9 ka rather fits into the Magdalenian series of dates. Svitávka with an early medieval date (1,2 ka) should now be excluded from the human fossils catalogues, and Obříství (4,7 ka), presumed to be Mesolithic, also seems to be more recent. |
