| Description | The consecutive study evaluates the changes and relationship between the optical aberrations and contrast sensitivity (CS) one year after conventional PRK for low to moderate myopia. Seventy-seven eyes of 41 subjects were enrolled, mean age was 28.5 years. The measurements of optical aberration (Zyoptix, Bauch Lomb) and CS under mesopic condition (CSV-1000E, VectorVision) were carried out preoperatively and 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after PRK. The total root-mean-square (RMS) value (TOA), the higher-order RMS (HOA) and the 4th-order RMS (SA) were compared with the values of CS. Both HOA and SA statistically significant increased after PRK. CS was not significantly impaired during follow-up period. The relation between CA, HOA, SA and CS was not confirmed.Although PRK leads to increases of HOA and SA, it only rarely negatively affects the final mesopic CS of the patients. |
