Description Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) is a common condition encountered in clinical practice. Catheter-based pH testing has several limitations, including issues of sensitivity, specificity, tolerability and the inability torecord non-acid reflux events. When combined with pH monitoring, impedance monitoring enhances the detection and characterisation of GORD and may have a role in the evaluation of certain specific symptoms that persist despite acid suppression therapy.
