| Description | The introduction of a ventriculo-peritoneal shunt is the most frequent operation in the treatment of hydrocephalus. Peritoneal catheters can be implanted by laparotomic or laparoscopic technique. Laparoscopic placement of a peritoneal catheter reduces the rate of postoperative complications. |
