Description | Atopic dermatitis can be provoked by environmental factors including working conditions. Between 1984 and 2003 1403 patients with atopic dermatitis (476 men and 927 women) were investigated. Contact sensitization was found in 768 (54,7 %) of these patients. The most common contact alergens were nickel sulphate 13,3 %, kalium dichromate 7,5 %, cobalt chloride 6,3 %, formaldehyde 5,8 %, balsam of Peru 3,5 %. In 198 (25,8 %) of the patients contact sensitization was of occupational origin. The most occupational sensitizations originated in metal-working industry (665), in agriculture (27) and in health-care service (25). |
