| Description | This paper reviews results of modern research in the American "Free Banking". It shows that this regulation created a banking system that was less safe than other alternatives used in the same period of time in other parts of the US (though much less instable than was previously thought). The main emphasis is laid on factors that destabilized the system. The paper shows that its instability was not "inherent" but was caused by an inappropriate governmental regulation. |
