Description | This paper is aimed at cross-sectional analysis of adolescents and their attitude toward doping, doping substances and drug abuse in Czech Republic, Denmark and Great Britain. Empirical data collection for the purpose of this study was carried out at primary schools in Czech Republic, Denmark and Great Britain between 2005 and 2006. The findings of this survey confirmed that Danish and British adolescents were better informed on the extend of adverse effects associated with doping use and the students general knowledge on doping substances and drug abuse was also considerably higher when compared with the Czechs. Adolescents in both, Denmark and Great Britain, seem to have acquired their drug awareness through drug education programs in their schools; the same does not seem to apply though to adolescents in the Czech Republic. It is of a pivotal importance that a drug education has to be undertaken in Czech school system. Information programs that give students of all age groups an indepth knowledge of substances and their adverse effects should be established. Materials such as educational books and videos on drug abuse should play an important role in helping to focus on drug prevention and social implications. Psychomotoric therapy aiming at enhancement of bio-psycho-socio-spiritual well-being of individuals should be also considered. Development of society depends on her understanding of socio-pathological issues and corresponding coping skills. |
