Description The essay analyses specific allergic diseases and their relation to the environment in basic schools. A realized survey was based on an accidental selection of twelve basic schools from urban, small-town and rural areas (each area was represented by four schools). More than two hundred pedagogues were questionned about their awareness of allergies and about the allergies indicidence among their pupils. Also environmental conditions in the schools analysed through observation were evaluated (observed classrooms in schools and physical education classrooms). The survey found that the majority of pedagogues did not know the precise amount of allergic pupils in their classes, but had just a general awareness about the allergy issue. More than a half of the pedagogues would not know what to do if a pupil had an allergic reaction. The survey also showed that in most of the schools the environment was not suitable enough to prevent the development of health problems in pupils.
