Many surveys all around the world have discovered that fallen trees have very important significance for riverine systems. Result from management practices, all dead wood was and still is being removed from water courses. Human influence was also oriented to riparian vegetation. In spite of this information, there is several well preserved river reaches in the Czech Republic. One of these areas is Protected landscape area Litovelské Pomoraví. Within the meandering Morava River are reaches with very big amount of woody debris. There are many reaches with more than 150 LWD pieces per 1 km.
