Description | The mercury biochemical cycle is complicated by numerous possible mercury species that are present. Sorption, desorption, diffusion, volatilization and transformation are among the processes that various mercury species undergo. The individual processes of mercury cycle are influenced by number of biotic and abiotic parameters. This communication describes influence of several abiotic parameters (pH, temperature, water and sediment movement in the bioreactor and composition of sediment and water component) on the sorption processes of mercury species. |
