Description | Occurrence of leeches was surveyed in the area of the Bohemia Uplands (České středohoří) and surrounding areas. There were localities with minimal influence and also localities with considerable anthropogenic influence, mainly because of brown coal mining. In May 2007 were sampled almost all of the bodies of stagnant water, totally 48 localities, on 45 occurrence of leeches was detected. There were totally collected 2567 individuals which fallen into 11 species and 4 families. The main factor, which influenced leeches, was the altitude and percentage of shadowed area. |
